My friend, Ruth, has been taking our family pictures for years now. I wanted to do a quick photo shoot of the girls to send out a picture in our family Christmas letter. That was before I took into account that Emily is 20 months old and is going to do things her way. Ruth took 57 pictures and not one photo has all three girls smiling at the same time. The only time Emily smiled is when we just let her do her own thing.
This is the first picture taken, before Emily realized what was going on.

Kayla is always eager to have her picture taken.
What? No crying? Apparently she didn't realize the camera was on her.
It takes Ashlyn awhile to warm up to the camera and you really have to coax the slightest grin out of her but it's worth it.
